The word “Yoga” is derived from a Sanskrit word that means “to unite.” Yoga is a mental, physical and spiritual practice that needs to be carried every day. Yoga works at three levels, Firstly, it can improve immunity, second we can avoid depression by practicing yoga and third yoga helps to set new goals for the global community so that we can be stronger. International day of Yoga is observed on June 21st every year to spread awareness about the health benefits of Yoga. This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it is being celebrated around the world on virtual platforms. The theme for this year is “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family.”
This year, our people in IOC participated in yoga sessions through online platforms. Employees got the chance to know how yoga embodies unity of mind and body with Coaches Dr. Manjunath, Mr. Bhaskar Mailk, Ms. Vidhi Karani and Mr. Ashish Jana from 19 June 2020 till 21 June 2020. Different yogic postures like Vrikshasana, Uttaanaasana, Trikonaasana, Bhadrasana, Shashankaasana, Bhujangasana, Pawana Muktaasana etc were practiced.
Yoga helps in boosting immunity and it has been found to help cure breathing problems. By doing Pranayama one can increase oxygen intake up to five times. The more oxygen-rich blood to the brain, heart, lungs, and digestive organs can help in improving the functioning of these organs and improve our overall health. Our online partner was ‘HealthAssure’.
